Municipal Museum of Bystřice nad Pernštejn

The Municipal Museum of Bystřice nad Pernštejnem is a local history museum. Its main task is to preserve collections from the collection area of Bystřicko for future generations. Since 1960, the museum has been located on the square in the building of the former town hall and the former burgher's house and brewery.

Route A - not wheelchair accessible

Pub and brewer's apartment from the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries - The history of brewing in Bystřice n.P. is very varied. As early as the 16th century, there were several malthouses and breweries in the city. The city brewery stood behind the city museum at the end of the 19th century. As part of the exhibition, visitors can see the pub, shop facilities and the brewer's apartment - bedroom, study and library.

Mineralogy – The museum owns a unique collection of minerals RNDr. Ludvík Ducháček, which proves the variety of minerals in the Highlands. The collection does not only specialize in minerals from our region, but is practically from all over the world. The largest exposed stone in the exhibition is marble.

Fish of the upper basin of the Svratka River - The exhibition points to the historical importance of the Vysočina in the establishment of ponds. The imaginary foundation stone of pond farming in the Czech lands was laid by the Pernštejns. In the exhibition, you will find themed aquariums - Reservoir with predators, Rybniční mělčina, Proudová řeka, aquariums with protected species of fish, fishing equipment, posters, etc.

Imatation of uranium mines – The Mining Exhibition has the task of creating the environment and atmosphere of uranium mines. The last mining in the Czech Republic took place at the Rožná deposit, in the Dolní Rožínka locality, in the Bystřicko region.

Demonstration of a medieval dungeon - the dungeon was built in the 14th century and discovered during the extensive reconstruction of the museum in 2002-2008.

Association room - The exhibition points to the importance, variety and number of associations that were and are in Bystřice nad Pernštejnem. A large puppet theater stage dominates the room. Furthermore, visitors can view posters, statutes, photographs, etc.

Settlement of Bystřice nad Pernštejnem - The exhibition consists of several parts. It is dominated by three situational models of the development of Bystřice n.P., then archaeological finds from Bystřice and the surrounding area, religion in Bystřice, a collection of coins, etc.

District Court – The exhibition points to the very establishment of the District Court in Bystřice nad Pernštejnem after 1850 directly in the building of the current BnP Municipal Museum. The judicial district itself had 57 municipalities. The court disappeared after the administrative reform of 1960.

Traditional regional small house - The exhibition represents the life of the inhabitants of Horáck. Visitors will see folk furniture, a modest fireman's costume, kitchen equipment and much more.

Bourgeois housing – The exhibition offers an example of bourgeois housing in the Biedermeier style. Visitors will see beautifully decorated original furniture and an example of period painting.

Old crafts (1 step) – The exhibition brings visitors closer to the vast variety of old Bystrica crafts. On display is the original cloth loom that belonged to the Dvořáček family, a stocking machine from the Bystrica manufactory, a cobbler's guild chest and much more.

Old school with a history cabinet - In the exhibition, visitors have the opportunity to see school desks from the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. In the local history cabinet, you can see an entomological collection, dissected animal skulls, dissected animals, maps, blackboard pictures, etc.

Iron exposition of Štěpánov nad Svratkou (1 step) – Sample of artistic production from the Štěpánov Iron Works until 1948. Cast iron stoves, signboards, crosses, etc. can be seen.

Finds from Havírna – finds from the 13th century mining of silver and iron ore from the Havírna locality, near Štěpánov nad Svratkou.

Outdoor exposition of the Municipal Museum of Bystřice nad Pernštejnem

Bystřický park of miniatures – outdoor exposition Bystřický park of miniatures is located near the BnP Winter Stadium (Lužánky). On 1.5 hectares, visitors will see miniatures of 14 castles (Pernštejn, Zubštejn, Pyšolec, Aueršperk, Skály, Dalečín, Kunštát, Louka, Osiky, Lomnice, Čepička, Černvír, Dolní Loučky, Trmačov) and 2 miniature monasteries (Porta Coeli, Doubravník) from the Svratka river basin. All models are in 1:50 scale and are depicted in their probable form from the 14th-15th century. century.

Miner ´s park – The exhibition is located in Zahradní street, directly below the policlinic. The park points to the mining activity that ended in Bystřice on April 27, 2017, when the imaginary last truck was taken out. This also destroyed mining in our region. Repaired mining machines can be seen in the exhibition, which are equipped with labels for easy identification. However, the park is dominated by the Vanishing Miner statue, which commemorates the disappearing craft of mining. And just as this craft is disappearing in our area, so is the miner himself.
